Functions
- Supporting and protective function
Catalyst / filter material support: In equipment such as chemical reactors, desulfurization towers, and water treatment filters, it is laid at the bottom as a supporting layer to bear the upper catalyst, filter material, or adsorbent, preventing them from directly contacting the bottom of the equipment and avoiding material collapse or loss.
Anti-clogging and uniform distribution: By filling the voids at the bottom, a uniform supporting surface is formed, avoiding direct impact of the fluid (gas, liquid) on the bottom material, while dispersing the fluid pressure and preventing local clogging or deviation.
- Fluid distribution optimization
Uniform flow diversion: Utilizing the pore structure formed by the stacking of spheres, the fluid (such as reaction gas, wastewater, etc.) entering the equipment flows uniformly through the filler layer, reducing flow resistance and turbulence, and improving mass transfer and heat transfer efficiency.
Buffering impact: Acts as a buffer for high-speed flowing fluids, reducing the impact force on the upper materials and prolonging the service life of the catalyst or filter material.
- Application of inert chemical properties
No catalytic interference: Chemically stable, does not react with the medium (such as acids, bases, high-temperature gases, etc.), and does not participate in the catalytic process, avoiding interference with the process reaction and ensuring the purity and stability of the reaction system.
Corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance: Can be used for long-term operation in strong acids, strong bases, or high-temperature (above 500°C) conditions, suitable for harsh industrial environments (such as petrochemical, metallurgy, environmental protection, etc.).
- Extension of equipment and material lifespan
Reduction of wear and impact: Through the buffering effect of the supporting layer, the wear of the upper catalyst or filter material due to fluid scouring is reduced, and the equipment bottom is not corroded or clogged due to direct contact with the materials, indirectly prolonging the maintenance cycle of the equipment.
Summary
Inert ceramic balls, due to their high chemical stability, resistance to high-temperature corrosion and high mechanical strength, are mainly used to support the upper materials in industrial equipment, optimize the uniform distribution of fluids, and at the same time, with their inert nature, avoid interfering with the process reactions. They play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and prolonging the service life of materials in towers, reactors, and filters in the fields of chemical engineering, environmental protection, and energy.
