Definition
Inert alumina ceramic media ball (also known as inert alumina ceramic ball) is a spherical ceramic product made from alumina powder as the main raw material through processes including batching, mixing, forming, drying, and high-temperature sintering. Its core characteristic “inertness” is reflected in its stable chemical properties—it does not undergo chemical reactions with the treated materials under complex working conditions such as acid-base media, high temperature, and high pressure. Meanwhile, it possesses excellent physical properties including high strength, high hardness, and low wear rate. With a white or milky white spherical appearance, smooth and uniform surface, and controllable particle size, it is a core media material integrating “stability” and “practicality” in the industrial field.

Applications and Functions
Catalyst Support and Protection
In petroleum refining and chemical reaction towers (such as hydrocracking units, reforming devices, and desulfurization towers), it serves as the supporting medium and protective material for catalyst beds. On one hand, it can uniformly distribute reaction materials and gases, ensuring stable flow rate and sufficient contact when fluids pass through the catalyst bed, thereby improving reaction efficiency. On the other hand, it can buffer material impact, prevent catalyst particles from pulverization due to collision and extrusion, extend the service life of catalysts, and reduce production costs.

Dispersion Medium
It buffers material impact, isolates direct friction between catalysts and equipment, protects catalysts from pulverization, and essentially acts as a “protective medium”. Ultimately, it assists catalytic reactions in achieving high conversion rates and long-term stable operation.

Filtration and Separation Carrier
In environmental water treatment, gas purification, and other fields, it can be used as a supporting layer for filter media or adsorption carriers. Utilizing its porous structure and chemical inertness, it assists in filtering impurities and trapping pollutants, while avoiding reactions with the treated media to ensure the stable operation of the filtration system.

High-Temperature Insulation and Filling
In high-temperature kilns, heat exchange equipment, and other devices, it functions as filling medium or insulation layer material. Leveraging its properties of high temperature resistance (long-term service temperature up to 1200℃ or higher) and low thermal conductivity, it reduces heat loss, maintains stable internal temperature of equipment, and improves energy utilization efficiency.
